Annual Educators’ Symposium
Now in it’s fourth year, the annual CEN Educators’ Symposium is a day long conference where educators can collaborate with colleagues and learn from a variety of speakers who provide insight and new resources. The sharing of resources and experiences has been fundamental to the success of the symposium. Held in the heart of Toronto’s civic culture – Toronto City Hall Council Chambers – the symposium has and continues to be an enormous success.
Speaker’s Bureau
There is no better way to excite students then meeting the people who make the decisions and engage with the democratic process. The Speaker’s Bureau is about that experience, about bringing the politicians and activists into our classrooms. Teachers can contact CEN during certain times of the year and we match your classroom up with a politician who is willing to come and speak. Sometime we even manage multiple visits. We also have a roster of community activists who can make themselves available to visit classrooms. For politicians the service is free and for the activists we ask for a small fee to compensate them for their time.
PoshPD
The life of a teacher is fast paced and often lacking in adult conversation. Time with colleagues is in short supply along with good PD. Our PoshPD program is about taking a moment so slow down, talk with our colleagues and learn something to help our practice. Taking place after work, in a ‘posh’ restaurant environment, PoshPD is CEN’s speaker series where you are encourage to relax, listen, discuss and have a drink.
Resource Library Resources are everywhere. If you’re new to teaching civics and politics, then it’s difficult to know where to start. Either you have no idea where to find helpful resources, or you are inundated with them. We have tried to make things simpler for you by providing a single point of entry. Our resource library is available online and is fully searchable and downloadable.
Unfortunately the resource library is currently unavailable. It will return soon.
